Hello fellow AVS members. I need some advice on this AV Sony DH790 please. I was oringinally leaning towards the STRDN1080 but then seen the 790. I only need the AV for Movies/Sky only and not for music. From specs they both seem identical and the 1080 is overkill for my needs. The primary method is the "direct" method - the AV Receiver is a middle man. You connect all your devices into the AV Receiver's HDMI inputs, and you connect the TV to the AV Receiver's HDMI output. All sound goes to the receiver, and video is passed to the TV. It has configurations for anything from just 2.0 fronts surround, 2.1,3.0,3.1 all the way up to 7.2 or 5.1.2 I`m currently running 5.1 Sounds pretty darn good.
